Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is expected to address the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday.
President Mohamud is expected to focus his speech on Somalia’s strategy for stability and peace, combating terrorism, responding to the drought, and addressing all of the climate challenges confronting the Somali people.
It was the first time in three years that world leaders gathered in person in New York.
The summit was opened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who warned of a “winter of global discontent” caused by rising prices, a warming planet, and deadly conflicts.
The leaders’ address will begin at 9:00 am (Eastern Time), and President Mohamud will be the 10th speaker of the day, following Liberia’s George Weah.
